Chris Morris keen on taking up New Ball Challenge

South Africa‘s all-rounder Chris Morris stated that he is keen on taking the new-ball responsibility in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2017 which will be played in England and Wales starting from June 01. South Africa are termed favourites for the forthcoming event and, Morris, who was also in the squad for the last edition in 2013, believes his side can win it this time if they play to their potential.

South Africa are placed in a tough group with Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka. Proteas will begin their campaign against Angelo Mathews led Sri Lanka on June 3.

“I would like to (take the new ball). I’ll even bowl spin if they want me to. But hopefully, I do get an opportunity to show what I can do. Competition is healthy and we are all men and there’s a lot of testosterone flying around, but at the end of the day we just want to win games for the Proteas and win the tournament. So, whoever plays, I’m sure he is giving his best out there and if I have to carry drinks, I’ll be the best drinks carrier there is”, said Chris Morris before leaving to England.

“It is a privilege to be at another ICC Champions Trophy for South Africa. It is going to be fun. I remember back then… Davey (Miller), myself and Dale were the single guys on that tour. We were actually talking about it just now, had a lot of fun, ‘The Three Musketeers’. I really believe we have a good chance of winning it, so going to go out there and just give it our best shot.”
