After winning their 3rd IPL Championship title, Mumbai Indians (MI) Captain, Rohit Sharma spoke to the media on Monday (May 22).

Rohit said he loved his role as the leader of a side and to inspire his team. MI won 3 IPL Championship titles under the leadership of Rohit Sharma in 2013, 2015 and 2017.

"As captain I love to inspire teams as much as I can. It (captaincy) does help me a lot. Last year, we had a tough time and could not qualify for the play-offs, but we knew we had the players to do well this year and they delivered. The attitude of the players remained the same whether we won or lost," said Rohit Sharma.

Mumbai Indians also became the first side ever in this league to win 3 titles. Rajastan Royals (RR) won the first ever IPL title, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) became the first team to win the IPL twice and now MI is the first team 3 IPL titles.

It is still unclear whether franchises will be allowed to retain players, and if yes, how many of them. Or if the entire squads of each team will go back into the player auction. Rohit, however, has already conveyed, in no uncertain terms, about where his heart lies.

"I would love to play for my state franchise (MI). I have played all my cricket in Mumbai and lived here all my life. We would also be happy to retain the whole squad," Rohit said.
