
Shikhar Dhawan will replace him for the series, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed through a media release.
Vijay played with a fractured wrist during part of India's marathon 13-match home Test season. After playing the first Test against Australia, he missed the Bengaluru Test and then returned for the last two matches of the series.
"The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Monday named Shikhar Dhawan as the replacement for injured Murali Vijay in the Test team, which is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series," BCCI said through a media release.
The Sri Lanka-India Test series starts on the 26th of July at Galle, before moving to the SSC, Colombo on the 3rd of August. The final Test begins on August 12 in Pallekele.
