Indian opener Lokesh Rahul will miss the opening Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle due to viral fever. This Test will be played starting from Wednesday (July 26).Rahul scored a half-century in the 2-day practice match played against Sri Lanka Board Presidents XI on Friday. Shikhar Dhawan and Abhinav Mukund are likely to open in the Galle Test Rahul's absence.
"The BCCI medical team confirms that opening batsman Mr. KL Rahul is presently down with viral fever. There are no major health concerns and he is making rapid progress, much to the satisfaction of the medical team," stated the BCCI media release.
"As a precautionary measure, Mr. KL Rahul is advised further rest and hence will not be available for selection for the first Test match against Sri Lanka, which starts on July 26 at Galle," the release added.
