MacGill is due to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Australia.
This former Aussie spinner have no prior coaching experience (for a national team) but has mentored many Aussie spinners. He will replace Ruwan Kalpage who was sacked last year as Bangladesh's spin coach.
"We have confirmed MacGill. We are waiting for him to get his NOC from CA," said Akram Khan, BCB cricket operation chairman.
"Even if we don't get him before the series against Australia we are sure we will have him in our dressing room as soon as he obtains the required documents to work here," added Akram.
BCB said that they would give MacGill a long term contract after observing the team's progress under his supervision and after consulting for how long he is willing to continue with the team.
