South Africa spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has been fined 50 percent of his match fee for what match officials described as 'serious dissent' during the final of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2017 on Saturday (Sep 9).An official release from the CPL said that the bowler admitted to a Level 2 breach of the code of conduct of he tournament.
In St Kitts & Nevis Patriots' defence of a small total in the title clash, Trinbago Knight Riders had suffered a top-order collapse. In the 13th over, Shamsi felt he managed to earn his side another breakthrough, only for the umpire to turn it down.
The chinaman bowler was utterly convinced that his straighter one had struck the right-handed Javon Searles in line and would've gone onto hit the stumps.
As the umpire remained unmoved by Shamsi's pleas, the bowler displayed his frustration and gestured angrily towards the umpire.
Later Shamsi took Twitter to apologise to the umpire and fans! "My sincere apologies 2 umpire Brathwaite and the spectators for my excessive appealing. I did apologise 2 him numerous times afterwards"
