Three uncapped players in England's Ashes squad

Three uncapped players in England's Ashes squadEngland selectors today named a 16-man Test squad for the 5-match Ashes series against Australia starting in November.

They have named three uncapped players in this squad. James Vince who played a Test in Aug 2016 made a return. Gary Ballance also included who is returing from a factured finger.

Ben Foakes, Criag Overton and Mason Crane are the 3 uncapped players listed in the squad. Surprisingly, ALex Hales and Jos Buttler have been left out.

Commenting on the squad, National Selector James Whitaker, said: "A tour of Australia is the ultimate test for our squad. We have provided Joe Root and Trevor Bayliss with a well-balanced squad with options in all areas."

“After a successful summer, having won the Test series against South Africa and West Indies, there is real competition for places and we have selected a squad that will work hard and compete against Australia, aiming to win the Ashes," Whitaker added.

"The selectors are backing James Vince to make an impact on his recall to the Test squad. He is a quality strokeplayer and we believe his game will suit the Australian pitches. His understanding of the England set-up will help him settle into the environment quickly and hit the ground running when we arrive in Perth next month."

Squad: Joe Root (c), Alastair Cook, Mark Stoneman, Gary Ballance, Dawid Malan, James Vince, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Jake Ball, Mason Crane, Ben Foakes, Craig Overton.
