The Supreme Court of India banned the sale of fireworks ahead of the Diwali on October 19. The poor air quality in metro cities in India are rising concern to the increase in health hazards.
Yuvraj tweeted a video where he spoke about the hazards of smoke emitted by crackers and urged to not use crackers during Diwali. He also called for the lighting of lamps since it is the Festival of Lights.
Here is what Yuvi has stated in his video on Twitter:
"Hello, everyone! A sincere request from my side to all of you. Please do not burn crackers this Diwali. Our country’s situation last year during Diwali was horrible, the air we were breathing was polluted and I couldn’t get out of my house due to all this chaos caused by the crackers. It’s very unhealthy and unnatural for our kids, friends, parents and everyone dear to us."
"It’s important we all take responsibility this year. Diwali is a festival of lights and let us all celebrate it by lighting up diyas, not by burning crackers. Spread love and happiness. Hug people, play cards, eat sweets, but stay away from crackers as this will burn our hearts. Little kids wearing masks due to pollution and roaming around is very disturbing. I’m sure all of you felt bad because of that."
"Let us remember that it’s our country and it’s our duty to make it a better place to live. If we don’t take responsibility, nobody else will do that. Lot’s of love to all my fans and wishing you all a very happy Diwali."
