Lokesh Rahul created yet another record in Test cricket with his 7th consecutive half-century in Tests to join an elite list of cricketers to hit most consecutive half-centuries.Rahul struck his seventh fifty (85 in Pallekele) in succession to give India another dominating start against Sri Lanka in the third and final Test at Colombo.
Rahul reached his fifty off 67 balls to join an elite panel of cricketers who jointly hold the world record for most consecutive half-centuries.
Sir Everton Weekes, Andy Flower, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kumar Sangakkara and Chris Rogers are the others to make this feat.
Rahul and Dhawan also added 188 runs for the first wicket in Pallekele today. This is the best opening stand for a visiting team bettering 175 by Manoj Prabhakar and Navjot Siddu.
